Struttin' their stuff

It's awards season, ladies!! I really really REALLY love awards shows and red carpet coverage. It's no secret that I'm a bit of an attention whore and I've always wanted to walk a red carpet in a fantastic dress and ham it up for the cameras. Seriously, if I could do it just once I'd be in heaven. Alas, I don't think that is in the cards for me, so I'm stuck swooning over amazing dresses worn by amazing women.

As a bride, I look for inspiration everywhere. The 2010 Golden Globes were last night and there were many ladies rockin' amazing white dresses. Let's take a look!

Kate Hudson looking flawless as always. I just wish she hadn't carried her train the whole night! I know it was raining but come on!

Calista Flockhart (and her main squeeze Harrison Ford). Very vintage-y.

Loving Jenna Fisher's beaded boho-chic dress.

Kristin Bell is the cutest lil thing in the WORLD. Wouldn't this make the best reception dress?

Eva La Rue is on CSI: Miami (I guess...I don't watch the show.) I really love this dress (especially the neckline) and I'd love to see what the back looks like.

And now a dress that I really wouldn't recommend for your wedding day:

Sorry, Annalynne McCord. I adore your hair but this is just NOT working for me.

Next up: The SAG Awards on January 23!

Where do you look for inspiration?

  3. That last dress is just scary! Great inspiration photos...I too watch all the awards shows...drives Mr Fix It crazy.

As far as your question about the logistics of the dress change for my 2nd reception dress:

My plan is to wear my gown for all pre-ceremony photos (we're doing ALL photos beforehand) and keep it on for the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner. Immediately after dinner (while the guests are still finishing up eating), we will do the cake cutting while I'm still in the big gown. We might mingle a bit if too many guests are still eating, otherwise we will go straight into the garter toss and bouquet toss. Obviously need to have my big gown on for hubby to sneak up under and grab the garter off my leg :) So all the main photo ops will be done in the big gown. Then as soon as all those elements are done, I'm running out to change into the 2nd reception dress. We will be 'introduced' for our first dance and I (we) will enter in my second dress...so it's almost like it gets it's own moment of glory for an entrance since all eyes will be focused on us when I walk in wearing it for the first time. Then straight from our first dance we go into full blown guest dancing for the rest of the night. Hope that helps :)
